Pop singer Jon Bon Jovi has financed the building of 55 new affordable housing units for low-income families in Philadelphia. The new apartment complex has been named JBJ Soul homes after Bon Jovi who is the founder and chairman of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.
The foundation is working with Project HOME, an advocacy organization that works to provide homes for the homeless. Ground was broken last November to begin the new housing project which will be completed in December, 2013. It will provide an additional 55 housing units for low-income individuals and families in Philadelphia.
In addition to 55 apartments, the complex will include retail space. The four-story building was constructed with funds from Bon Jovi, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the city of Philadelphia.
Project Home is a non-profit organization located in Philadelphia whose goal is to provide neighborhood-based affordable housing for the city's low-income families and support services for the homeless. Their mission is to end homelessness and create a safe living environment for all.
