The Top 10 High Schools in the Country for Low-Income Students

Low income high school students

Everyone, everywhere deserves a good education. Money should not be the determining factor as to whether or not a student receives a good education. Unfortunately, the fact is that schools located in high poverty areas often perform far worse than schools located in areas of affluence. With this said, however, there are exceptions, meaning there are many schools across the country who are performing very well, even in areas of poverty.

Where the top 10 best high schools are located

Getting into a good school is important to every student, but particularly important to low-income students who often have no choice. Newsweek recently published a list of the top 500 best high schools for low-income students.

Here are the top 10 schools that appeared on that list. Placement was based on graduation rates, state exams, and how well they prepared their students for college. These schools were recognized for beating the odds and performing better than expected, statistically, for their poverty level.
