Deadline to Apply For Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Grant is June 20, 2014


Qualifying organizations have until June 20, 2014, to apply for the IRS Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Grant. The federal program awards matching grants up to $100,000 a year for organizations that offer low-income taxpayer clinics. The programs can be new or expanded.

What the grant covers

The grant covers programs that represent low-income taxpayers who have a tax dispute with the IRS as well as taxpayers who speak English as a second language. Organizations that work with taxpayers in underserved areas are particularly encouraged to apply.

Underserved areas

Underserved areas include the states of Alabama, Alaska, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Puerto Rico, as well as the Los Angeles, Sacramento and Northern Virginia metropolitan areas.

Eligible businesses

Eligible businesses include accounting schools, business schools, programs at law schools, and non-profit organizations that focus on representing low-income taxpayers.
