New York Times Says Whites, Not Blacks, Take in 69% of Government Benefits
Many racists like to argue that mostly African Americans are the ones who are on welfare, living in Section 8 housing, and using food stamps. But in an article published last year, The New York Times reported that 42% of poor Americans are white, and that they are taking in 69% of government benefits.
Here's a direct quote from the article:
African-Americans, who make up 22 percent of the poor, receive 14 percent of government benefits, close to their 12 percent population share.
White non-Hispanics, who make up 42 percent of the poor, receive 69 percent of government benefits – again, much closer to their 64 percent population share.
