2. San Jose — in San Jose, you'll need to make around $115,515.

3. Washington, D.C. — $108,092 would enable you to live comfortably in D.C.

4. Seattle — all you need is $93,634 a year to live in Seattle.

5. San Diego — a salary of $101,984 would do it in San Diego.

6. Boston — in historical Boston, $106,082 is what you'd need to be financially comfortable.

7. New York City — New York is an expensive place to live, requiring an annual salary of $131,365 in Brooklyn, $169,639 in Manhattan, and $116,907 in Queens.

8. Los Angeles — this popular west coast city would be a comfortable place to live on $102,061 a year.

9. Denver — $82,036 is all you need to live comfortably in Denver.

10. Austin — lots of people in Austin earn over $150,000, but you could be comfortable on only $72,912.
