Easy Ways to Save Money on Entertainment

Easy Ways to Save Money on Entertainment

Regardless of what’s going on in the world, we all want to find entertainment at a fair price. Unfortunately, right now our entertainment options are limited. However, that doesn’t mean we're stuck having to spend an astronomical amount of money for entertainment. Continue reading for some easy ways to save money on entertainment.

Read and learn something new

Once you can go back, we’d recommend utilizing your local library to rent out books, movies, and video games. However, since there’s a good chance that your library isn’t open right now, you can use online resources that offer free ebooks and audiobooks. If you prefer a physical book, check to see if your community has a Little Free Library, or shop at used bookstores.

Consider volunteering

While many volunteering opportunities are limited given the COVID-19 outbreak, you can plan to volunteer in the future when we get through this. Giving back to the community is a great form of entertainment—it requires none of your money, just your time and attention. You could volunteer at a local food pantry, soup kitchen, or even volunteer as a recreational sports coach. Plus, if you’re a live music fan, many artists will give you a free ticket if you volunteer to work their merch table.

Practice negotiation

Believe it not, one of the best ways to save money in any situation is to simply ask. Now, of course, you shouldn’t be pushy about receiving a discount; they have every right to decline. However, sharpening your negotiation skills may just pay off (no pun intended). If you have cable TV, you should call your television provider and ask for a discount or downgrade your plan. They just may have a solution to help you save some money. Another excellent way to save money is through bundle deals. Instead of having cable TV, Netflix, Hulu, a cell phone plan, and so on, ask if there’s a bundle available. You’ll usually save a lot more through a bundle than with separate subscriptions.

Your Wi-Fi shouldn’t have to work harder than it needs to

An unnecessary cost that a lot of people encounter is data overage charges, whether that’s from an in-home Wi-Fi provider or cell phone provider. Of course, the reason for going over your data plan might be because you actually went over, in which case you need to be more careful. However, a lot of people don’t realize that having the wrong Ethernet cable can make it difficult for your router to find your devices. While there are different types of Ethernet cables, it’s important to make sure you have the best one you can. A better Ethernet cable will give you a much more reliable connection, making it easier on your router to locate devices.

There’s no question that we’re in some weird times right now, but you can still find affordable entertainment. Plus, why not plan for when we’re on the other side of this pandemic? There are plenty of easy ways to save money on entertainment, both now and in the future.
